Mycon
Our latest myopia control spectacle lens: MyCon
Myopia, or short sightedness, is increasing every year. It is estimated that half of the global population could be short sighted by 2050!
Unfortunately, being short sighted is not only inconvenient, but it can also increase your risks for certain long term eye conditions.
As myopia control specialist we already offer orthokeratology (overnight vision correction) and soft contact lenses that are designed to manage myopia. We are delighted to now offer an alternative that is more accessible to patients in the form of spectacles.
Myopia: Helping Reduce Progression
Whether it's tablets, computers or homework, today's kids focus more on things right in front of them rather than spending time outdoors. This behavior is leading to more and more children developing myopia - also known as short-sightedness. By 2020, more than one-third of the world's population was short-sighted. This means that there has been a sharp increase within just two decades.
The experts at Rodenstock have developed a solution: Rodenstock MyCon. These children's lenses are precisely designed to correct myopia, ensure sharp vision and counteract the progression of myopia.
Best Vision
MyCon lenses improve vision regardless of whether a child is only slightly or severely short-sighted.
Simple Treatment
Myopia control lenses are the simplest form of short-sightedness treatment and help prevent myopia from progressing uncontrollably in children.
Shatterproof Plastic
Lenses made of plastic ensure high safety during play & activities.
Extremely Light and Thin
The thinner and lighter lenses from Rodenstock are not unpleasantly noticeable even at high visual acuities.
Prices
The MyCon lenses are a medical intervention aimed at slowing the progression of myopia. Our practitioners have undergone extensive training to be able to offer this to our patients.
EyeCare Plan
The prefered option for the MyCon lenses is to sign up for our Mycon CarePlan. This involves a lower initial cost of £200 followed by a direct debit of £45 per month. This covers a new set of lenses every year (if the prescription changes by more than one step before then they are also covered). This way you get piece of mind to know that you can continue with the myopia management with a manageable monthly fee.
Pay As You Go
You can purchase the MyCon lenses for £435* each time you need a new pair. Most of our childrens frames are covered by the NHS when a new pair is due. Again, a new set of lenses is free of charge should the prescription change by more than two steps within a year.
The lenses are more expensive if high index materials are needed.
